Isaac Hinson

Isaac Hinson has over 25 years of professional experience in the field of environmental science.  He earned a B.S. in Biology with a Concentration in Ecology/Environmental Biology from UNC Charlotte in 2001 and a M.S. in Biology from Winthrop University in 2007.  He holds certifications as Ecologist (Ecological Society of America) and Professional Wetland Scientist (Society of Wetland Scientists).  His expertise includes water resources, ecological restoration, environmental regulations, clean energy, and natural resource management.  The majority of Isaac’s career has been in local government, where he has worked for various environmental agencies at the City of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County.  His career began in environmental consulting and also includes a two-year stint with a large energy utility company, where he coordinated the implementation of various clean energy projects.  Isaac is currently the Natural Resource Manager with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation, where he manages the natural areas within the County’s 8,300-acre nature preserve system.  This management includes ecological monitoring, invasive species management, prescribed burns, forest stand improvements, Piedmont Prairie restoration, and wildlife management.
