Where are you currently working, and what is your job description?
As a Hydrogeologist for the National Park Service’s Water Resources Division in Fort Collins, Colorado, I conduct hydrogeologic investigations to establish sustainable groundwater supplies, assess groundwater infrastructure, and evaluate threats to park groundwater resources.
What influenced your decision to major in Geology at Charlotte?
Ultimately, it was my passion for protecting groundwater resources that are critical for sustaining ecosystems and human life.
How did your experience at Charlotte prepare you for your career?
I received a unique and high-quality education in a wide array of geologic subdisciplines that enabled a critical holistic understanding of Earth processes. Additionally, various professors went above and beyond to mentor me and provide guidance for graduate school and career options.
What academic and/or professional advice would you give to current students?
Identifying a trusted mentor is a great way to learn, build confidence, and find clarity in your path. Despite busy schedules, many people are willing to share their experiences and assist students and young professionals – don’t be afraid to ask for advice!
