Ryan Carter Wins NCAFPM Berry Williams Scholarship

We are proud to announce that Ryan Carter, a senior majoring in Geography with a minor in Data Science and advised by Professor Gang Chen, has been awarded the prestigious NC Association of Floodplain Managers (NCAFPM) Berry Williams Scholarship.

A native of Kure Beach, Ryan developed an early interest in architecture and coastal community development after witnessing frequent flooding in his hometown. His academic and professional pursuits have since centered on sustainable development and floodplain management. Ryan previously received the North Carolina ArcGIS Users Group (NCAUG) Undergraduate Scholarship for his analysis of erosion and flooding on Masonboro Island, NC. He also played a key role in launching UNC Charlotte’s student chapter of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS).
