EEGS senior earns 2025 NCAUG Undergraduate Scholarship

Natasha Kroll, a senior double major in Earth & Environmental Science and Data Science with a minor in Statistics, has been awarded the 2025 North Carolina ArcGIS Users Group (NCAUG) Undergraduate Scholarship. Check the link for details.
The NCAUG is the largest non-profit organization in North Carolina dedicated to advancing the geospatial industry across public and private sectors. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to undergraduate students pursuing degrees that contribute to the state’s geospatial industry.
Natasha was recognized for her excellence in GIS and her innovative work mapping human activity zones for malaria research in Southern Africa, advised by Dr. Yao Li. She plans to pursue graduate study applying GIS to emissions monitoring and carbon capture. Natasha will also present her project, “High Resolution Mapping of Human Activity,” at the upcoming NCAUG meeting happening October 1–3, 2025 in Asheville, NC.
