49er Urban Planning Club Visits the Charlotte Government Center

On April 30, 2026, the 49er Urban Planning Club spent an inspiring afternoon inside the City of Charlotte Government Center, meeting the planners who shape one of the nation’s fastest‑growing cities. Students connected with transit planners, bike and pedestrian planners, historic preservation specialists, and long‑range planners—getting a firsthand look at their workspaces, current projects, and the collaborative environment behind city planning.

The group also had the opportunity to network with leaders from Planning, CATS, and the Department of Transportation, sharing career goals and asking questions about entering the field. Students left with Charlotte swag, new professional connections, and a deeper motivation to pursue planning as a career.
