The Department of Geography and Earth Sciences annual awards reception is Saturday, April 20th at 6pm on the 3rd floor of the Student Union.
Graduates from our department had great success at Saturday’s Graduate Research Symposium. Sarah Haas and Seth Brazell took first and second place respectively in the Biology & Chemistry Papers category while Sara Gleave took second place in the Social Sciences & Humanities Papers category.
Anya Byers, first-year Geography PhD student, won the US-IALE travel award. This nationally competitive $500 scholarship will allow Anya to present her research “Analyzing emerging infectious forest disease as a coupled human and natural system” at the 2013 U.S. International Association of Landscape Ecology in Austin, Texas.
Congratulations to Paul McDaniel (PhD Geography and Urban Regional Analysis, May 2013) who has accepted a research fellowship position with the Immigration Policy Center (IPC) at the American Immigration Council in Washington, DC.
