Categories: News

Javon (Jay) Jackson, a Senior majoring in Geology, was recently selected as a participant for the North Carolina Louis Stokes Alliance for MinorityParticipation (NC-LSAMP) Undergraduate Research Program at UNC Charlotte for Summer 2022. Jay will be working with Dr. Gang Chen and his graduate student Evan Blomquist to analyze the effect of fine-scale urban spatial patterns on air quality across the nation.

NC-LSAMP provides program activities designed to increase recruitment, retention and degree attainment among student populations historically underrepresented in STEM fields and a stipend to assist with financial support. As a first-generation college student and a native North Carolinian, Jay’s career goal is to help reduce the issue of environmental hazards through research and to raise people’s awareness on a variety of environmental issues. Congratulations, Jay!
